The Coaches House

The Coaches House provides coaches with an efficient way to set up individually-tailored training weeks, designed within the beautiful hills of South West of France.

The offer is simple: the coach specifies their exact training aims, along with the type and style of accomodation and food required, then The Coaches House organises the rest. Think of us as your personal organiser and knowledgeable onsite agent.

This includes hassle-free organization of fundamentals such as airport transfers from a range of airports, basic bike maintenance facilities, roadside assistance, transport to and from routes and swim venues, teaching space for analysis and feedback sessions, and a range of testing and analysis tools.

The coach can tailor a range of bike and run routes to suit each individual’s objectives and ability, as well as taking advantage of lake swim sessions, training in an outside heated (all year-round) 50 metre pool, or a range of indoor 25 metre swim facilities. Additional services are made available such as local guides, sports massage and relevant endurance-related education workshops.

Why SW France

The South West of France has a unique place appeal to athletes and coaches where you can find empty roads running through beautiful vineyards and varied rolling countryside, linking medieval bastide towns and villages.

This is topped off by gourmande fresh local food and wine prepared and eaten within a variety of attractive individual accommodation.

It is within the heart of cycling country, where the Tour de France regularly passes through the local roads as part of their stage races each year. 2017 has seen the local area specifically targeted by the UCI for their World Championships qualifier races and the finals held in Albi. Cyclists therefore take advantage of the stunning scenery and routes which also boast of the Pyrenees to the south and the Massif Central to the north.

For runners, the wooded hillsides offer plentiful empty trails for all levels and terrains that present stunning views. The annual ultra-trail ‘Trail 3 Rocs’, held in St Antonin Noble Val, attracts many runners of all nationalities to try to conquer the challenging routes up and around the hillsides alongside the Averyon river.

For swimmers, a perfect choice between a lake and pool facilities means that whatever the type of improvement or practice required your needs will be met, whether it is open water wetsuit drills or using the heated 50 metre exterior pool for swim analysis and practice.

Whether you want a chateau or a gite, a friendly local b&b or a fancy hotel, we have made arrangements with local  accomodation to suit all budgets but all at fantastic prices.

How do we do this?

With the exception of mid-summer, the South West of France has a glut of accomodation options and so in each case we have made deals with local suppliers to provide accomodation at very advantageous prices.

Running and Cycling

Don’t just dream about an empty road and a sunny sky.

The South West of France is rightly known for being a great outdoor environment whether you run, bike, swim or all three.

Spring is perfect training time: warm weather, no people, no tourists. Instead, rolling hills, picturesque flats along famous rivers or challenging and world famous mountain climbs

All of this is backed up by a road and trail infrastructure that most UK road athletes can only dream of.

The Basics

As a coach, it is tough to set up a training environment away from home and get in place all of the things that you need.

This is our job.

We have a van to carry you and your precious equipment to and from the airport. We offer free basic maintenance facilities. We know where the shops are. We know what routes are right for a given level of athlete and we know the local world of bike shops, doctors, guides and all the other little things that make self-organising a trip to a great training environment almost impossible.

We can also organize shopping prior to arrival if requested.
